each day i have "blog" on my "to do" list. each day, it seems, i just don't get to it. don't have the time to sit and spill all that is swirling in my head.
i do read my blogs and get caught up, update my prayer list.
today i'm compelled to link two posts i just read in the past few days.
one* that made me think about those around me who are professing to be Christ-followers but who bear no fruit, who at times bear bad fruit.
i should do something about it. i should love them enough to ask them how God is showing up in their lives. i've asked before but not followed through when their answer grieves me. they are either extremly anxious or angry, sometimes both, sometimes sowing seeds of bitterness and doubt in others because of the hard things that are going on in them. yes, i've said, "trust God." and "all happens for a reason. run to God. get to know Him better. let him shape you and mold you in the likeness of His Son."
but i havne't done a good job of following up. especially the "repeat offenders."
LORD, forgive me.
the post & video pointed out to me that there are lost people right there, near me, thinking they are saved but deceived by Satan. not only are they lost, and Jesus will say, "I never knew you," but sometimes they are in the fabric of the church sowing discord and disfunction.
for the sake of their souls and for those around them, i need to be moved to action. love is action.
the other post was from a blog i've recently found, and love. her words are so poetic, i see the beauty in the every day. today's post was one about death, more precisely the fear of death. the fear that those with no hope in Christ have.
i have found that when i feared death it was about not trusting God, so i'm working on that. i pray He lets me enjoy my children and life, but i trust that He will call me home when my work here is done. He is watching over my children. more than anything else, i want them to know Christ as their Savior. after that, i know that anything more we get to enjoy is gravy.
the first made me think of those around me, that they too may come to know Christ before the end of their days. we have limited opportunities. i want to make the most of them--not just with my family but with everyone God puts in my path.
i am not thinking so clearly at the moment as i am headed to the urgent care room (?) to have sophia looked at. she was out with mike yesterday and they had an accident on a go-cart. she appears to be fine, but her headache has the pediatrician concerned. we are going to check for an injury to her brain. i have the peace of ignorance. but i want to honor God in my response to the tests. pray for us, for me.
i want to have the peace of God, knowing that whatever He has allowed is for His Greatest Glory.
* heather's post doesn't have a title, so i couldn't link to it directly. it's dated Jan. 31, 2009.
