beauty by the book

what an amazing weekend!

i got back earlier today from the women's retreat the ladies from our church put together. it was GREAT. one of my favorite teachers spoke, her name is laurie cole and every time i've heard her speak--in person, on teaching CDs, and in the lecture DVDs for her studies, i am challenged. i have even admitted to her that i am her groupie. :) i told her last year (dec. 2006) when i'd seen her five times in six months and had heard everything i could get my hands on.

in 2007, our small group ladies went through her 10 (or 11) week study, There is a Season (yes, it took us all year, and we're still really not done)--it is WORK to dig and delve into God's Word. ( we meet every other week.)

anyway. the topic this weekend was Beauty by The Book and she spoke on biblical beauty, how it is GOD-GIVEN but can also be extremely dangersous--Ezekial 28:12b,

" 'You were the model of perfection,
full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

speaks of SATAN.

i want to strive for BIBLICAL beauty, not just physical (i admit i want to be physically beautiful too, but it cannot be at the expense of what matters).

she talked about the five women depicted in the book of Proverbs--three DON'Ts and two DOs:

DON'T be like
1. the IMMORAL woman
2. the INDISCREET woman
3. the IRRITATING woman

DO be like
4. the CAPTIVATING woman
5. the IDEAL woman

i want to share all my notes! i am so excited. :) she said there is a seven-week study coming out soon on this, so i will keep an eye out and see if we can do it in the summer....any takers?
