Tuning into His voice

Before we go too much further, it occurs to me that I should say something about the fact that there are other voices competing for our attention.

There may be other messages coming our way.  Other opinions that want our attention.

God can speak to us as we read His Word, as we experience circumstances, through godly counsel, through a "still small voice" that pulls at our hearts.  We experience His peace when we're obeying Him.

You can trust that He will NEVER contradict Himself.

This makes reading and studying the Bible even more critical.  Because it is unchanging, it is the standard we use to measure the authenticity of other messages.

We have an enemy, and he wants to derail us and makes us ineffective.  He is the father of lies and deception and half truths.  God records in His Word how Satan uses deception and doubt.  We do not have to fall for his schemes.  God has not left us defenseless.

So KNOW God as He reveals Himself in His Word.  And measure all messages against that.

If you think you hear God telling you to do something that contradicts His commands or His character, then DO NOT fall for it!

Read His Word and KNOW Him so well that you know when someone is twisting His truth.
